Why Lamb From the Karoo District of Philippolis?
Lamb from Philippolis in the Karoo district has got a reputation for being of the best quality and for good reason! Farm To Home source their meat from Philippolis where the lamb are allowed to graze freely on hectares of land. The farms have hectares of land per head of sheep which means that livestock walk the land feeding on the ‘Rooigras’; ‘Fingergras’; ‘Fynbos’; ‘Swartangelgras’ Karoobossie bloubossie bitterbossie and many other indigenous grasses and ‘bossies’ which are unique to the area. The healthy grazing, unique feed varieties and lack of antibiotics or growth stimulants is what gives lamb from the Karoo district the wholesome flavour that is celebrated worldwide.
How do we do it?
- We only source our lamb from the wide-open Karoo district of Philippolis. Each lamb, for example, has the equivalent of 11 rugby fields to roam and eat the famous “bossies” and “fynbos gras” that grow in the Karoo.
- We use a local, world-class abattoir. From there the meat is matured and then vacuum-packed into freezer-friendly packs; then boxed exactly according to your order.
- The boxes go straight into our cold trucks that already have their engines running! Once full, the trucks turn left or right onto the N1 and make their way to Gauteng or the Cape.
- A representative from the farm delivers the meat, no more than 2 days after it was processed, straight to your home, at your convenience. That’s as fresh as it gets.
